Matt from (IAM)WARFACE took some time out to chat exclusively with Festival For You - just before the band's performance at Into The Wild Festival this weekend!

FFY: How did you guys all meet and form the band?

MW: (IAM)WARFACE started as my solo project. Then realising I'd need a band to play live, I searched until I randomly met Lou Matthews in London over a love of Star Wars. We both realised that we were looking for the same things in a band. Lou then bought Matt Whitehead into the fold and soon after, Alex Whibs came on board after I posted an ad online.

FFY: You’ve quite a mix of influences from Muse and Tears for Fears, right through to Nero - is your music a compromise amongst the band to include all tastes?

MW: I write and record all the current music so the musical tastes are purely my own at this point.

FFY: You’re fairly new to the scene, forming in 2015. How important are music festivals in providing the springboard for new acts?

MW: I think festivals are probably the best thing for new bands these days. It's a great way of getting new people to be able to see you play in a neutral environment with no expectation. Hopefully you walk away with new fans to boot. It's also awesome fun to play.

FFY: If you guys weren’t in music, what jobs do you reckon you’d each have?

MW: I'd be a drag queen. Lou would be a celebrity chef. Matt Whitehead would be a rock collector. Alex would be a deep sea diver.

FFY: If you could create your own music festival what would be the top 3 essentials and who would headline?

MW: My ideal festival would have a huge field filled with roll top baths with steaming hot water and essential oils filling the air with luxurious aromas, whilst sipping free wine and being massaged. Imagine that whilst off your tits!!! All while listening to Queens of the Stone Age and Massive Attack co headline.
